When we stepped onto the stage of Dragons’ Den, we carried our story with us, one that we told to a national audience. And it’s clear that it resonated with you.
We also carried years of work – ten years to be exact, because 2016 is when the we found Laminaria Digitata washed up on the shoreline at our local beach, the seaweed that would change everything for us. In the years since, we’ve done plenty of research and development, spent late nights refining formulations, all so that we can share the power of wild North Atlantic seaweed and its amazing natural benefits for the skin.
We didn’t fully anticipate how much that moment on Dragon’s Den would shape what came next.
First, we want to say thank you.
To the Dragons – for their insight, their questions, and their belief in what we’re building. And to the Canadian public – your support, orders, messages and word of mouth have enabled us to grow in such a meaningful way. We’ve been able to invest in new equipment, and soon we hope to bring our products to an international audience. It’s you who have been part of our journey in a way that goes beyond a single episode.
One of the most important pieces of feedback we received from the Dragons was this:
While seaweed is, and always will be, the star ingredient in our formulations; the benefits weren’t inherently clear when reading our labels.
In other words, we had built something meaningful… but it wasn’t yet consumer-ready for the national or international stage. That was a hard thing to hear. But it was also exactly what we needed.
We had spent years focused on what was inside the bottle; our extraction methods, our ingredients, the integrity of our process. But we hadn’t translated that clearly enough for someone encountering the product for the first time, standing in a store, or scrolling online.
And clarity matters – for the person trying to decide if something will help their skin, for the retailer explaining it to a customer, and for anyone discovering us for the first time. So we took that feedback seriously.
Over the past months, we’ve been working behind the scenes to bring that clarity forward, without changing what makes our products what they are.
The formulations haven’t changed.
The ingredients haven’t changed.
Our commitment to wild, sustainably harvested North Atlantic seaweed hasn’t changed.
What has changed is how we communicate.
You’ll begin to see this in our updated labels, where each product leads with what it does, in simple, clear language; the benefits are easy to understand at a glance; and the science and the story are still there, but easier to access.
This next chapter is about meeting you where you are, whether you’ve been with us from the beginning or are just discovering 7 Fathoms now.
We’re still the same brand, shaped by sustainable practice, guided by the same values of sharing a natural product that can change lives.
We’re just growing into something clearer, stronger, and ready for what’s ahead.
Thank you for being part of this – truly.
