The Seawise Recovery Spray is the second product we developed after the original Seawise Barrier Hydration Lotion. Laminaria digitata is the sole extract in this formulation. At 90% ingredient volume, the spray is one of our strongest and simplest formulas. Before experimenting and developing in the lab, our customers were the true brains behind the creation of the spray. Many who benefited from the lotion asked if we had plans to put these marine bioactives in a format that would alleviate dry, itchy scalp. 

As we listened to our customers then we continue to listen and learn from our customers now. The versatility of this delivery system enables customers to experiment with this product, often finding ingenious uses for it that we did not initially anticipate. The experimentation of our customers makes it one of the most exciting products in the Seawise line. I recently purchased your spray because, based on the ingredient list, I assumed it was a facial skincare product. After looking more closely, I realized it’s marketed as a scalp spray.

I wanted to share some feedback because I actually think you’re doing your product a bit of a disservice by positioning it so narrowly. The formula—water, glycerin, Laminaria digitata (seaweed) extract, and salicylic acid—looks very much like something that could appeal to people looking for a gentle facial mist or toner as well.

If I hadn’t happened to read the ingredients, I probably never would have considered it for my face, yet there’s nothing about the formula that seems exclusive to scalp use. I think there are likely many customers who would appreciate knowing it has broader skincare applications.

The Versatility of the Seawise Recovery Spray

Although our original intention was for the spray to be applied exclusively to the scalp, customer experience has shown it to be effective anywhere on the body. The golden rule is to get these marine bioactives onto the skin. The Seawise Recovery Spray is the most efficient delivery system we have to achieve that. It’s fast and flexible and covers a large surface area. It’s also a great tool for family members and partners. Caregivers can spray it on loved ones who need assistance for applications on the back or other out-of-reach areas. 

Incidental to our original vision for the spray to hydrate the scalp, customers realized it also acts as a conditioner. In targeting the scalp people gradually noticed a change in the texture of their hair. Letting their curiosity guide them, some now use it as a preconditioner, leaving it in to absorb for fifteen or twenty minutes before washing, while others approach it as a traditional conditioner after shampooing. Either way, the result is much fuller and healthier hair. For people with curly hair, they remark on its effectiveness while styling. They apply it while doing their crunching or crinkling to hold the curl. It also hydrates to counterbalance the arid texture which the intense heat from driers, curlers, and straighteners cause.

All Aqueous Formula for Absorption, Functionality, and Peace of Mind

The bioactives in the laminaria digitata really like water. They bind to the water molecules and that helps draw in additional hydration into the skin and to help to support the entire skin barrier. After a shower or bath, when the skin is still damp, is the best time to apply the spray for optimal absorption and hydration. 

As always, we keep everything as natural as possible. That means there are no additives for scent and the spray is fragrance-free. It’s an all aqueous formula. For Terrence, he’s integrated the spray into his everyday skincare routine as a support tool for the intact skin around his ostomy.
