Research links 7 Fathoms’ Seaweed Extracts to Anti-inflammatory, Antioxidant properties
Newfoundland and Labrador’s 7 Fathoms Seaweed Skincare Company offers evidence of the potential efficacy of Laminaria digitata and Fucus vesiculosus seaweed extracts for skin care and skin health.

Dr. Robert Helleur, former Professor of Environmental and Analytical Chemistry at Memorial University of Newfoundland and scientific consultant for 7 Fathoms, emphasizes the potent bioactive elements present in Laminaria digitata (oarweed) and Fucus vesiculosus (bladderwrack).
“7 Fathoms Bladderwrack extract showed a high antioxidant activity measured by DPH radical scavenging activity,” says Dr. Helleuer. “Extracts of Laminaria digitata and Bladderwrack showed impressive anti-inflammatory values.”
Dr. Helleur, alongside Dr. Wayne Gulliver, a Professor of Medicine specializing in Dermatology and a clinical researcher, emphasizes the promising results from 7 Fathoms' anti-inflammatory and antioxidant in-vitro tests at Memorial University's Marine Institute. These tests underscore the potential of seaweed components like fucoidan as innovative ingredients that may improve skin health.
